Belgian Post to sell postage stamps online

Belgian postal services company De Post/La Poste plans to launch online sales of postage stamps, it was reported on May 3, 2005.

De Post/La Poste’s new service will allow customers to order postage stamps online and to print them.

Belgian railway operator SNCB/NMBS started online ticket sales in 2004. Currently, the company sells online 7,000 train tickets monthly.

[Editor’s note: De Post/La Poste (www.post.be) registered a profit of 36 mln euro ($46.2 mln) in 2004, compared to a 64 mln euro ($82.1 mln) loss for 2003.

Currently, the company has 37,920 full-time employees. It services some 3.7 billion consignments annually, the Belgian News Digest reported on January 17, 2005.]
