TNT China to launch Database Project Jan 2006

The Chinese postal service business of Dutch mail and logistics company TNT NV said on November 24, 2005 it would expand its activities from January 1, 2006 through the launch of a data collection programme, aimed at servicing advertisers and investors.

TNT China’s postal service division will collect data for advertisers in the large Chinese cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

TNT has already started earlier in 2005 a data collection project in Shanghai. For the time being, TNT China has gathered information of some 540,000 addresses, representing 10 pct of the population in Shanghai.

According to Eric Van Den Berg, mail development director of TNT China, the address database includes households that are interesting or important to advertising companies.
