Jersey Post is set to become a private company by July

The States have been recommended to approve the transfer of postal administration from the government to an incorporated business.

Jersey Post would then operate like Jersey Telecom and Jersey Water with the States as the largest shareholder.

The 1969 agreement between Royal Mail and the States will also be reviewed, which could pass responsibility for postal services back to the island.

Privatisation laws were approved by the States in 2004.
