YEEP! forecasts “the increased adoption of lockers over home deliveries” in the UK

YEEP! has announced today the official launch of its parcel delivery locker solution; the first to use battery powered and carrier-agnostic parcel lockers in the UK.

Contracts are already in place with international and national carriers, London Boroughs, Railway Networks and private landlords, with over 400 lockers anticipated this year, 1000 by Q2 2024 and with further plans to install 10,000 across the entire UK.

The easy to install and maintenance-free battery-powered lockers are available to all UK carriers, retailers and local authorities and offer convenient 24/7 parcel drop-off and pick-ups, significantly cutting the carbon footprint associated with conventional courier deliveries.

Fully-funded with an £8m investment secured for year 1, YEEP! will operate as a high-density, hyper-local parcel delivery network, using a highly focused data driven model to guide location selection in order to meet its ambition of 90% of people being within 250 metres “slipper distance” of a YEEP! locker.

With its locker proximity fitting into busy lifestyles, YEEP!’s deep-residential network will enable all carriers and all customers to drop-off and pick-up parcels in the heart of their local communities in a fast, eco-friendly and convenient way.

YEEP! lockers are easy to use and can be accessed around the clock, helping industry partners to optimise routes, improve productivity, enable out of hours deliveries, cut costs, reduce their carbon footprint and increase customer satisfaction.

Green at heart

Last-mile deliveries account for the largest share of carbon emissions for e-commerce and, without any intervention, the number of delivery vehicles in the top 100 cities globally will increase by 36% until 2030 resulting in a 32% rise in emissions and 21% rise in congestion.

The YEEP! parcel delivery solution reduces the number of delivery vans on the road, reduces congestion and pollution at busy times and reduces the amount of CO2 per parcel, significantly cutting the carbon footprint associated with conventional door-to-door courier deliveries. As the YEEP! model is centred around collaborations, it will work with its partners to help them achieve their decarbonisation goals, too.

Proven technology with quick and easy installation

Working in partnership with Local Authorities, locker hosts and carriers, the YEEP! network will roll out across the UK and, by using proven technology already in use in a growing number of European countries, YEEP!’s network can be installed simply, cost-effectively and rapidly.

The smart lockers, supplied by kernTerminal, are battery powered, require no groundworks or wiring and can be easily installed within an hour. The lockers come in a range of sizes, offer 24/7 convenience, are safe, secure, vandal proof, maintenance free for the host and are backed by dedicated support and service.

Noël Shapton, CEO and founding Director at YEEP!, says: “I am thrilled to bring our pioneering parcel delivery solution to the UK. We’re going further and faster and have big ambitions to become the largest, most sustainable agnostic parcel locker network in the UK within a very few years.”

“Our ambitious targets, together with our collaborative and partnership approach, will foster a sense of community and accessibility for all and we forecast the increased adoption of lockers over home deliveries, which will help to save the planet and reduce business costs, too.”
