Smelyansky on Ukrposhta’s latest release: The first issues have been sold out and are almost impossible to buy

On April 03, Ukrposhta – Ukraine’s national postal operator – officially put into circulation a block of postal stamps “Cities of Heroes. Chernihiv region” dedicated to the victorious and courageous cities and villages: Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Semenivka and Yahidne.

The circulation of the postal block is 150,000 copies. The face value of the stamps is M, equal to UAH 30.00 (which corresponds to the tariff for sending domestic registered letters without declared value, weighing up to 50 g). The price of the block is UAH 120.00. The circulation of the First Day envelope is 40 thousand copies, the circulation of each postcard is 50 thousand copies. The price of a set of 4 maximum cards is UAH 250.

“The stamps in this series are among the most popular. The first issues have been sold out and are almost impossible to buy. I hope there are enthusiasts who will manage to collect the entire collection. In 2024, Ukrposhta plans to expand the heroic series with new issues, so stay tuned for announcements”, commented Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta.

The 4-stamp postal block honors the heroic Chernihiv region, the region that would have become a logistics center for the enemy if not for the brave resistance of Ukrainians. The village of Yahidne, depicted on the stamp, located near Chernihiv, was occupied in early March. 360 residents were taken as prisoners and kept for 27 days in the nutshell basement of a small school. The postage stamps of Chernihiv and Nizhyn honor the residents and defenders who did not allow the russian army to occupy these cities.

The postal issue continues the “Cities of Heroes” series. Its sketches were developed by the creative agency I AM IDEA.

From now on, you can buy the postal block at post offices across the country, as well as in the official Ukrposhta online store.

This is the fifth issue of a series of stamps dedicated to the heroic cities of Ukraine. On December 09, 2022, the series was launched with the stamp. “Kherson is Ukraine!”. On March 31, 2023, the series continued with the block of stamps. “We will not forget! We will not forgive! Bucha. Irpin. Hostomel”. n September 14, 2023, Ukrposhta officially put into circulation the postal block “Cities of Heroes. Kharkiv region”, dedicated to the cities of Heroes: Balakliia, Izium, Kupiansk and Kharkiv. On March 27, 2024, Ukrposhta presented the postage stamp “Cities of Heroes. Okhtyrka”.
