OPENING OF THE NEW POST OFFICE BASE IN WEIZ
Austrian Post has officially opened its new logistics centre in Weiz to meet the sharply increasing parcel volumes.
In addition to increasing sorting capacities in the logistics centres, the steadily increasing number of parcels also requires modern postal bases with modern workplaces from which the shipments are delivered.
One of these new locations is located in 8160 Weiz and has now been officially opened in the presence of Bettina Bauernhofer, Mayor of the Municipality of Weiz, Karlheinz Kornhäusl, Provincial Councillor of Styria, and Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG.
THE NEW POST OFFICE BASE IN WEIZ
The new location in 8160 Weiz has a usable area of around 1,900 m². The almost 60 employees sort and deliver around 2,300 parcels per day, as well as letters, brochures, newspapers and magazines in Weiz and the surrounding communities. The old delivery base in Weiz was replaced by the new building and nearby locations were relieved.
The new postal base has a modular structure, so that Swiss Post will be able to react flexibly to changing requirements in the future. In the spirit of sustainable construction, the building was equipped with the infrastructure for a complete e-vehicle fleet. Heating is provided by district heating, the roof also has a green roof and has been prepared for a photovoltaic system.
