DHL launches new Innovation Centre to encourage European collaboration

DHL Group has officially opened its new Europe Innovation Center in Troisdorf, Germany.

The new, expanded and modernized center near the Group’s headquarters in Bonn replaces the previous facility and supports the development and practical application of technologies that make supply chains smarter, more sustainable and more resilient. It also serves as a platform for collaboration with customers, start-ups, scientific institutions and industry partners. Covering an area of 5,360 square meters, the center showcases DHL’s latest advances – including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and technologies to promote sustainability – and is a central component of DHL Group’s Strategy 2030. This roadmap focuses on smart growth, emission-reduced logistics and digital transformation, with the Innovation Center serving as a catalyst for forward-thinking logistics solutions.

“Innovation is the engine of our change. The new DHL Europe Innovation Center enables collaboration, promotes growth and redefines opportunities in logistics – by turning ideas into reality,” says Katja Busch, Chief Commercial Officer DHL and Head of DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation. “Here, we are shaping the future of logistics together with our customers, partners and employees.”

Built from glulam and powered by renewable energy, the new DHL Europe Innovation Center operates entirely without greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, exemplifying the Group’s holistic approach to sustainability. From the selection of natural materials to smart energy systems and low-emission construction, every aspect of the building has been designed to minimise environmental impact, in line with DGNB Platinum certification, one of the highest sustainability standards for green buildings in Europe. Accommodating up to 400 visitors, the center features a flexible, modular space concept that can be easily adapted to different events and workshops, fostering dynamic collaboration and innovation. In addition, the center is home to the DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation Team, which, together with other DHL teams, plays a key role in the implementation of the Group’s global innovation agenda.
