Bpost: we’re slipping out of home delivery straight into everyday routines

Bpost and Retail Partners Colruyt Group are joining forces to accelerate the rollout of parcel lockers accross SPAR stores.

This initiative marks the first rollout at this scale, reflecting both groups’ commitment for sustainable and accessible logistics. By integrating parcel pick-up, sending and returns into everyday shopping locations, this partnership makes parcel services more convenient and seamlessly embedded in customers’ daily routines.

Around two thirds of Spar Colruyt Group have opted into the initiative, underlining the strong interest from independent shop owners. The rollout will be carried out progressively: around 120 SPAR Colruyt Group will be equipped with a Bbox parcel locker before the summer, representing approximately 60% of the network, with the remaining locations to follow by year-end.

Laurens Himpe, Chief Automated Parcel Officer at Bpost: “Neighborhood stores are where quick trips meet convenience: parcel pickup and returns woven into your grocery run. By rolling out Bbox lockers in Spar stores run by Retail Partners Colruyt Group, we’re slipping out of home delivery straight into everyday routines. Shoppers get seamless multitasking and 24/7 freedom, while local stores gain footfall and become true community service hubs.”

Convenience integrated into everyday shopping

As e-commerce and returns continue to grow, customers increasingly expect delivery solutions that are flexible, close to home and easy to use. By installing Bbox parcel lockers at shops that are known and embedded in the neighborhood, bpost responds to this demand with a solution that fits seamlessly into daily life.

Customers can collect or send parcels at a time that suits them, combining postal services with their regular grocery shopping, without additional travel or waiting times.

A win-win for customers and stores

“For SPAR shop owners, the introduction of Bbox parcel lockers strengthens their role as local service hubs. Parcel lockers contribute to additional footfall and complement existing in-store services, while offering added convenience to customers”, says Virginie Vandenperre, Commercial Director Retail Partners Colruyt Group. “This collaboration reflects a shared ambition to reinforce neighborhood stores by combining proximity, accessibility, and practical services under one roof.”
Alba Aliko, Manager of Spar Colruyt Group Compact Obourg : “This complementary service represents real added value for our store. It brings greater convenience to our customers, who appreciate being able to pick up or drop off their parcels easily during their visit. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many find the service simple, fast, and very practical, which also helps drive more footfall to the store.”
