Rovenma & TCG Scale 2,500+ Off-Grid Lockers

Rovenma & TCG Scale 2,500+ Off-Grid Lockers

Rovenma, a smart parcel locker manufacturer, and The Courier Guy (TCG), a South African courier company, have published a White Paper explaining how they built and scaled an autonomous, off-grid locker network in South Africa.

The network has grown to more than 2,500 lockers, operating in a market characterised by unreliable grid power, connectivity challenges and security considerations.

Highlights from the White Paper include:

    • Why locker networks in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and South Asia demand a different approach to infrastructure, power, security and deployment
    • How Rovenma’s fully autonomous, battery-powered locker became the default for The Courier Guy’s 2,500+ locker network, reducing site preparation, electrical work and infrastructure requirements while accelerating deployment
    • How Rovenma’s seventh-generation Rovlocker was optimized around South Africa’s demanding operating conditions, combining ultra-low power consumption, vandal-resistant locks and simple installation for reliable off-grid operation
    • Eight practical lessons for operators building parcel locker, PUDO and Out-of-Home (OOH) delivery networks in emerging and infrastructure-constrained markets

The White Paper documents seven years of operating evidence rather than projections and was compiled on site in Johannesburg. It also features insights from Halim Sertbas CEO, Rovenma and Craig Pitchers CEO, The Courier Guy.

Commenting on the White Paper, Halim Sertbas CEO, Rovenma said: “A reliable locker network isn’t proven on the easy sites, it’s proven on the hard ones. This study shows what that looks like when no grid, no postal habit and real security pressure are the starting point, not the exception.”
