Pakistan Post to collect utility bills from homes

Pakistan Post would soon launch its new service of utility bills’ collection from homes, shops and offices to maximum facilitate its customers, said Director General Pakistan Post Arshad Khan here on Sunday. “You just make a telephone call and postman of the area will collect utility bill from your home,” the DG told a private television channel (ARY One World).

He said there are 300-350 night post offices across the country, which work 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Eight to ten night post offices are operating in Islamabad, while 70 to 80 night offices are working in Karachi city.

Pakistan Post’s network consists of 12,000 offices, spreading all over the country, Arshad Khan added.

He said the Pakistan Post is undergoing a transformational phase, which would ultimately bring services of the institution at par with the international standard. He said efforts are being made to make the organisation more efficient, customer-friendly, putting it on modern lines.

The DG said restructuring and re-organisation work of the Post is underway, besides making significant progress in human resource development it has decided to impart modern training to 15,000 staffers belonging to customer services, while 5,000 staffers have been trained up to now.

“Under the reformation plan, all counters of the Pakistan Post to be automated,” Arshad Khan said adding that the institution is also considering to provide micro-finance facility to its customers.
