FedEx Trade Networks offers service to assist US importers

FedEx Trade Networks has announced a comprehensive service designed to assist customers in meeting the new requirements of US Customs and Border Protection.

FedEx Trade Networks has announced a comprehensive service designed to assist customers in meeting the new requirements of US Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Importer Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements, commonly referred to as ISF or 10+2.

Under the new ISF regulations, at least 24 hours before ocean cargo is loaded onto a vessel bound for the US, US importers are responsible for electronically transmitting ten additional data elements to CBP.

The new FedEx Trade Networks ISF service offers customers options to best fit their supply chain. Customers can choose to have FedEx Trade Networks file and manage the ISF process on their behalf, or opt to self-file the required ISF data elements via a Web portal.

The FedEx Trade Networks self-filing option utilizes the company’s Web-based My Global Trade Data system for immediate, 24/7 secure access to produce customs-formatted ISF messages. Additionally, customers can access real-time shipment data and track ISF and entry summary information from a single source. Because the system is Web-based, there is no software to download and upgrades occur automatically.

While CBP has indicated a flexible enforcement period for the next 12 months, FedEx Trade Networks is already successfully filing ISF data for some customers. The company recommends that its customers make a good faith effort to comply with the new regulations as soon as possible. As preparatory support, FedEx Trade Networks continues to offer educational seminars to assist customers in meeting the ISF requirements. Additional information, including how to register for a free ISF Web seminar, is located on the company’s ISF Web page located at: http://ftn.fedex.com/10plus2.
