A delegation from the Philippines visited Emirates Post Group to discuss enhanced cooperation in postal and money transfer services between the Philippines and the UAE.

A delegation from the Philippines visited Emirates Post Group to discuss enhanced cooperation in postal and money transfer services between the Philippines and the UAE.

The delegation, led by Erineo Ayong S. Malikshi, governor of province of Cavite, Philippines, met Abdullah Al Daboos, president of Emirates Post Group, and other senior officials, and held wide-ranging discussions for boosting mutual cooperation and business ties.

“As there are a large number of Filipinos in the UAE, it is vital to build stronger mutual links to serve the community,’ said Al Daboos. “We foresee vast opportunities in the Philippines and this visit will take us closer to our goal of expanding ties between our two countries. In the current financial situation, Emirates Post Group is keen to explore new markets and expand existing partnerships.”

Alexander Ong, from a Filipino financial services company, said there was great scope for expanding ties in the field of remittances, in view of the large number of Filipinos living and working in the UAE. He said the Philippines already had an advanced remittance system, including money transfer via mobile phones.

The delegation visited Wall Street Exchange, a subsidiary of Emirates Post Group, and discussed potential areas of cooperation, with Abdulbasit Suwaidi, CEO, Wall Street Exchange and Khalid Hassan, CEO, Instant Cash.

The delegation visited Empost and was briefed on the new services launched for the Indian community through a partnership with the Indian Consulate. They also discussed the technicalities of money transfer and other postal operations with Emirates Post’s IT department.
