British Airways World Cargo, together with global partner DHL Global Forwarding, announced that it has become the first carrier to dispatch a paperless airfreight shipment from London Stansted.

British Airways World Cargo, together with global partner DHL Global Forwarding, announced that it has become the first carrier to dispatch a paperless airfreight shipment from London Stansted.

The general freight shipment left London Stansted on 13 February and arrived at Hong Kong International on 14 February.

Adam Carson, head of business development, comments: “We have been active in the e-freight initiative from its inception and have played an important role in formulating guidance for participating airlines.

“Becoming the first carrier to dispatch a paperless shipment from Stansted is testament to the hard work of the e-freight team within BA World Cargo. We’re now focused on expanding our e-freight penetration to and from our UK airports and across certain trade lanes outside the UK. We are also working on an electronic solution that will allow us to fully deploy e-freight on any of our trade lanes, subject to local regulatory approvals.”

Tony Baigent, gateway operations manager for DHL Global Forwarding, adds: “This is a significant achievement for both parties. DHL Global Forwarding is fully committed to the principles of e-freight and we are delighted to have pioneered the first paperless shipment from London Stansted in partnership with BA World Cargo.”
