Talks aimed at saving Irish jobs at DHL got under way on 11 May.

Unions and management are meeting to discuss the planned lay-off of 320 workers across its Irish operations. The lay-offs were announced on 7 May and are due to come into effect in August.

DHL says it is closing seven regional depots and restructuring in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

“The union is willing to do its utmost during the days ahead to work with management in an effort to save as many jobs as possible,” Pat Ward, a SIPTU organiser, said in a statement on 7 May.
