Estonian Post offers paperless bookkeeping through e-invoicing

Estonian Post is now using an e-invoicing operator enabling companies to move to paperless bookkeeping.

eArvekeskus, the platform being used by Estonian Post, is compliant with most common ERP solutions used in Estonia, with the full lifecycle of the invoice being covered.

“Even though e-services such as Internet banking, e-tax board, and electronic commercial registry are very popular in Estonia, still paper invoices are widely used and the main reason is that there just wasn’t appropriate solution. Now, Estonian Post has filled the gap and is offering e-invoicing services for companies of any size” said Aavo Kärmas, member of the board at Estonian Post and chairman of the Council of the Estonian Post subsidiary E-invoicing Center Ltd.

“Through our e-invoicing operator eArvekeskus, we can also offer various postal services to our customers and we will continue our investments to e-solutions” added Kärmas.

“Literally, Estonian Post is not delivering invoices anymore from door to door, but takes one extra step towards clients and is delivering invoices from senders accounting system to receivers accounting system”, said the head of info logistics division Toomas Türk.

“eArvekeskus e-invoicing platform is developed so it could be customised to be compliant with various legislations and country specific business practices, therefore we are looking into cooperation with postal administrations who are considering moving to the e-invoicing line of business” added Türk.

“Contrary to widespread perception, invoices in PDF format sent by e-mail are not actual e-invoices, because it is not possible for the recipient to enter the invoice data to the accounting system without additional manual work, or to make a transfer through the internet bank. However using e-invoicing it is possible to reduce the time and money wasted in the invoice handling process” commented Marius Arras, manager of eArvekeskus.
