Prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has told Pakistan’s postal service to provide speedy, efficient and better services to the country’s population.

Prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has told Pakistan’s postal service to provide speedy, efficient and better services to the country’s population.

Chairing a briefing of the Pakistan Post to review its performance and future plans at the Postal Staff College on 7 July, the prime minister directed the Ministry to ensure delivery of cost-effective, client-responsive postal service to the people.

Gilani directed the postal department to upgrade and modernise its infrastructure and office environment, compete with the private sector and reengineer its business procedures by integrating automation in running the organisation.

He emphasised the importance of institutional development and urged the functionaries to reorganise and professionalise the department to come up to people’s expectations by adopting best practices of efficient management and taking measures for better marketing, product development and service delivery.

He said that the range and delivery of postal service be upgraded by focusing on express mail delivery system to match private couriers in terms of time and cost efficiency.
