Gaunt leaves Home Delivery Network

Home Delivery Network chief executive Brian Gaunt has left the company, Post&Parcel can exclusively reveal. Gaunt’s departure comes only weeks after Home Delivery Network (HDN) announced the acquisition of DHL’s domestic parcel business in the UK. The combined businesses will have annual sales of more than £600m and will deliver more than 180m parcels a year, creating a viable rival to Royal Mail’s business.

Jonathan Smith is believed to have taken over Gaunt’s role.

Gaunt’s exit comes as a surprise after the chief executive sounded upbeat during an in-depth interview with Post&Parcel’s sister publication, Mail & Express Review, published earlier this month.

Gaunt told the Review the purchase of DHL’s domestic UK parcel business was a “transformational deal in a growing market”.
