Deutsche Post is preparing to increase its DHL International Ltd participation.

Deutsche Post is preparing to increase its DHL International Ltd. participation. In an interview with the paper a company spokesperson confirmed that the matter concerned the 21% still controlled by the founding families and the Westdeutsche Landesbank. DP AG aimed for control of altogether 72% of the company shares. A further 25% would be owned by Lufthansa Cargo and 3% by Japan Airlines.
Last year DP AG CEO Mr Klaus Zumwinkel rejected speculations about an acquisition of all the remaining DHL shares and said that control over 75% would be sufficient (CEP News 38/00). His statement referred to an agreement with Lufthansa reached at the beginning of 2000, according to which the two companies would concentrate their mutual interests, e.g. the management of their DHL participation, in the new company Aerologic GmbH (CEP News 16/00).
