Mejdell replaces Bailly in IPC chair

The CEO of Norway Post, Dag Mejdell, has taken over as chairman of the board of the International Post Corporation (IPC) as from 1 December. Mejdell has been the CEO of the Norway Post Group for the past five years. Now he will also be in charge of the organisation for the 24 largest postal companies in Europe, North America, Asia and the Pacific region, representing in total 80% of the world’s letter volume and 2.4m postal employees.

Mejdell succeeds the head of the French postal service, Jean-Paul Bailly, as the chairman of IPC. It is not usual for a small country like Norway to be given such a position in the international postal world, the corporation said.

“I regard being elected president of the IPC as a declaration of confidence, but it is primarily recognition of the fact that Norway Post has managed to adapt its postal services to the developments that have taken place. We are far ahead technologically and industrially, and that is something that is noticed internationally,” said Mejdell.
