Collect+ sees record volumes over festive period

Parcel returns service Collect+ saw record volumes this Christmas from its retail clients in the UK. As consumers and retailers alike battled with the disruption caused to deliveries by snow, the number of parcels delivered to Collect+ stores for customer collection  leapt  by 26% in the final two weeks leading up to Christmas.

Online retailer Shop Direct Group, which owns brands such as Littlewoods and Very, saw demand soar during the cold spell and advocated Collect+ to its customers as a delivery and returns option, lessening the need for delivery vehicles to battle ungritted side streets whilst giving customers a convenient local pick up point.

Mark Lewis, CEO of Collect+ comments: “The soaring volumes for Collect+ this Christmas reflect the true demand for flexibility and convenience in returns and deliveries.

“A combination of the snow and changing shopping habits meant that purchases were made later than ever this year, and we were pleased to be able to provide our retail partners with  and a new and effective way of keeping their delivery promises and maintaining a returns service in the face of bad weather.”

High street stores witnessed a last minute rush in sales in the final days leading up to Christmas, and this was also true for Collect+, with the last parcel collected from a store at 9.30pm on Christmas Eve.

Collect+ service also benefited from customers returning parcels during the bad weather with on-time parcel collection rates from Collect+ stores running 10% higher than the traditional pickup from home – according to internal figures.
