CityPOST acquires direct mail distribution firm

Ireland-based alternative postal operator CityPOST has confirmed its acquisition of direct mail distribution company Publicity Mailing. Publicity Mailing is among Ireland’s largest direct mail distribution companies, delivering to more than half a million letterboxes on a weekly basis.

The company employs 165 staff and contractors, and is currently the only provider in the Irish market to use personnel GPS tracking on all delivery operatives.

“The GPS technology ensures that all materials are delivered on time and to the specified areas, giving the client real time access to the roll out of their campaign through a dedicated website,” the company said.

CityPOST said the deal will “strategically enhance its network and delivery capability”. The company will benefit from increased van and personnel capacity, as a result of the move.

Ian Glass, managing director, CityPOST Group, said: “This is an exciting move for CityPOST Group and substantially increases our network capability at a time of strategic growth for the company. Significantly, we intend to roll out the GPS technology model across our entire postal network for all postal deliveries, which will provide the highest level of transparency for clients.”

Established in 1987, CityPOST is a family owned Irish firm, operating its own national network structure. Other than An Post, it is the only last mile operator licensed in Ireland to deliver post and currently delivers to 950,000 homes every week.

The Group currently employs 188 staff in Ireland and last week announced the creation of a further 180 new roles. The addition of Publicity Mailing will bring total staff numbers to over 530 over the next 18 months.

CityPOST also has a large presence in Portugal, where it employs 120 staff and was recently awarded a three-year contract for the addressed delivery of the Portuguese telephone book for the full region of Portugal and its islands.
