Maersk adds flying Finn to global network

Maersk Logistics aggressive expansion spree continues with the addition of Finland’s Oy Arealog Ltd., a forwarder and customs broker, to its global logistics organisation. (10/15/2001)

Maersk is targeting the Finnish market and Oy Arealog Ltd has six offices in key business locations the southern Finland. The firm has grown rapidly in the six years since it was founded, and brings extensive experience in multimodal forwarding and customs brokerage.

The General Manager of Christer Sjlund, Oy Arealog’s general manager says that his firm “has a particularly good reputation in terms of local contacts. We are known in the industry for being close to our clients. And now, with the opportunity to tap into Maersk Logistics global network and IT platform, we will be able to provide our clients with many new opportunities.”

“We expect major synergies to arise from the acquisition, which will translate into advantages for the clients of both companies thanks to our merged service portfolio and the larger scale of business,” said Maersk Logistics Finland’s managing director Pekka Stenqvist.
