Purolator International to double presence in United States
Canadian parcel and express firm Purolator International is set to double its presence in the United States in the remainder of 2011. The company said yesterday it is set to open 10 new branch offices during this year, with the 10 offices already operating in the US at the start of the year meaning it will have a presence in 18 of the top 20 market areas in the US in terms of trade with Canada.
So far this year, new offices have opened in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Salt Lake city and San Francisco.
The company said by the end of the year, there will also be new offices in Houston, Miami and Milwaukee.
Purolator, which is majority-owned by Canada Post Corporation, said it was responding to a “surge in demand” for logistics experience and expertise in shipping goods between the US and Canada.
American firms exported $250bn worth of goods to Canada during 2010, and are expected to surpass that total this year.
“Choice provider”
John Sweeney, vice president for field sales and service quality at Purolator, said: “The expansion of Purolator will solidify our role as the choice logistics provider for service to Canada.
“No other logistics company has the commitment, the resources and the expertise in the Canadian market as Purolator,” Sweeney claimed.
Along with its new offices, Purolator International also has US facilities in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and Dallass and Raleigh/Durham, along with its head office in Jericho, New York.
The international side of the Purolator, Inc., business was renamed from Purolator Courier Ltd earlier this year to reflect company ambitions to expand throughout North America and beyond.
