APC Overnight provides next-day delivery for Chinese electrical giant

Asia’s biggest electrical controls manufacturer and one of China’s largest companies has chosen APC Overnight as its next-day parcel delivery partner for the UK. CHINT Group Corporation, which has its UK office in Bury, will use Wolverhampton-based APC to boost customer service levels to help expand its business in Britain.

The Chinese firm sends thousands of items each year to customers including electrical wholesalers and distributors, as well as major manufacturers.

The company has a web-based ordering system linked through to a shipping label printing and fulfillment system that offers end-to-end tracking provided for parcels.

Graham Chadwick, company director at CHINT Europe (UK) Ltd, said despite the recession, the electrical controls market in the UK was growing strongly.

“Part of our offering is the ability to process orders quickly for next-day delivery,” he said. “We rely on APC Overnight to get these critical items through to our customers and we are pleased with the strong partnership we have forged with the local APC Bolton depot.”

CHINT is currently in the process of expanding its range of solar energy systems, which it believes will be in particular demand.

Chadwick said: “CHINT has invested millions of dollars in a new state-of-the-art factory in China, making solar energy products. We are very excited about the opportunity to offer this technology to our UK customers.

“APC Overnight will play an important role in delivering these products using the same careful and reliable service the network provides to the rest of our products.”

APC Overnight operates a next-day network in the UK including 125 local depots, delivering more than one million parcels a month.

The network is owned by the independent local delivery firms of which it comprises, starting out as a consortium of 47 same-day companies in the early 1990s, since when it has tripled in size.

Currently in the process of expanding its network, last month the company posted its latest annual results, revealing a 10% increase in turnover to GBP 58m, while its pre-tax profits rose 25% to GBP 3.4m.
