Former UPS director to lead Norway’s Bring Cargo

Norway Post’s cargo division, Bring Cargo, has appointed a former UPS regional director as its new chief executive.

Tim Jørnsen, 45, most recently served as chief executive and board member of the European express transport network Palletways Europe, based in Baar, Switzerland, but from 2005 to July 2010 was Nordic director for UPS, a company at which he spent the first 20 years of his career, rising up through the ranks to various directorships, including roles in Brussels and the UK.

Arne Bjørn Dahl, the logistic director for Posten Norge, said: “We are very pleased to have such an experienced, knowledgeable and resourceful person to lead Bring Cargo. Tim Jørnsen has an exciting skill set and industry background.”

Sri Lanka Postmaster General M.K.B. Dissanayeke steps down

Sri Lanka’s postmaster general, M.K.B. Dissanayeke has tendered his resignation to ministers, seeking another position within the government.

Following a decision by the country’s Cabinet to look into allegations against him, Dissanayeke requested the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications release him from his duties, a spokesperson for the ministry told local media.

A replacement is expected to be appointed with effect from February.

Gerald Gregory to head up logistics solutions at Austrian Post

From the start of next month, Gerald Gregori, 44, will head up the new Logistics Solutions division at Austrian Post.

A mechanical engineering graduate of the Technical University of Vienna, Gregori is a former Unilever Group head of quality management, while much of his career has seen him with senior consultant roles, most recently from 2004 as managing partner at Vienna-based logistics consultancy Econsult.

In his new role, Gregori will take charge of developing profitable export services and business areas including value-added logistics and fulfillment.

Hoelting to succeed Fain as UPS senior vice president, sales

UPS Freight has said it has promoted its vice president of corporate business development, Paul Hoelting, to become the new senior vice president of sales.

Hoelting, 45, succeeds from John Fain, who is retiring effective March 31. Hoelting has more than two decades of experience in transportation since joining rail network Union Pacific (UP) in 1990. He moved to UP’s LTL subsidiary Overnite Transportation in 1993 taking various roles at the company until he became a key figure in the purchase of the company by UPS.

Fain, 58, has spent the past 30 years at Overnite Transportation and UPS, spending the past several years directing sales and marketing initiatives at UPS Freight, both on the international and domestic sides.
