Spanish postal market grows by 6.8%

The Spanish postal services market ended last year with a turnover of 1.226bn euros (Pta204bn), up 6.8 per cent on the 1999 figure, according to figures from consultancy firm DBK, and 14 per cent on the 1998 figure.

DBK emphasises that the main company, Correos y Telegrafos, has strengthened its leading position in the market in the past two years. It expects private operators to gain market share in the short to medium term, however.
