DHL Express launches next day Hong Kong to US service
DHL Express has opened a new international service centre in Hong Kong, and has also launched a new Hong Kong to US time definite delivery service. The company has invested HKD $34.7m ($4.4m USD) in the new 4,500 square metre Tsing Yi Service Cetnre, calling it a significant addition to its Hong Kong infrastructure.
DHL will consolidate shipments from across Hong Kong at the facility before they are sent to the DHL Central Asia Hub for onward transit to more than 220 countries and territories in the DHL global network.
With advanced technology and streamlined processes, DHL said the new facility would have an outbound capacity of around 110 tons per day, and an inbound capacity of about 50 tons per day.
Ken Lee, the managing director at DHL Express Hong Kong, said the site’s proximity to the airport and local transport connections meant Tsing Yi was the ideal location.
“This significant investment not only shows our continued confidence in Hong Kong’s potential for growth, but also underlines our commitment to helping customers connect to the world,” said Lee.
DHL Express has been ramping up its Asian intercontinental services in recent months, with a new Boeing 777 round-the-world flight from Germany to Hong Kong to Los Angeles launched in March.
The new flight has allowed the company to start up a new DHL Express 10:30 service from Hong Kong to the United States, offering one-day door-to-door delivery with a money-back guarantee in the event of a shipment delay.
The service will delivery customers’ shipments by 10.30am on the next business day for all major US business centres.
