Church & Dwight closes contract with Exel
The expansion is needed to accommodate additional product lines from Church & Dwight’s recent acquisition of Carter-Wallace consumer products, including Arrid antiperspirants, Nair depilatories and First Response pregnancy test kits.
“Church & Dwight needed a distribution partner who could support the additional Carter-Wallace product lines moving through its network,” said Frank Pyryt, Exel’s director of operations. “Exel will provide infrastructure and consistent process in support of Church & Dwight’s business growth and acquisition goals, with increased efficiency in retail distribution, rate analysis and supply chain management.”
Exel increased Church & Dwight’s inventory square footage at its Northeast Campus in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and hired more associates to support additional volume from Church & Dwight’s Dayton, N.J., distribution center. Exel manages the outbound less-than-truckload freight from Mechanicsburg to retail channels in the northeastern United States, consolidating shipments with other manufacturers on the Northeast campus.
“We’ve had a very successful partnership with Church & Dwight over the years,” added Ed Hahn, Exel’s key account manager. “This latest opportunity deepens our relationship and improves our ability to provide reduced transportation costs through increased shipment consolidation.”
