CollectPlus to provide express delivery for UK music festival

Music festival goers in the UK are to be offered a new express delivery service next month allowing them to make online purchases and have them delivered in as little as an hour. CollectPlus – the parcel shipping retail network owned jointly by delivery firm Yodel and retail payment firm PayPoint – is setting up a collection point at the Virgin Media V Festival on 18th and 19th August.

The parcel collection point will specifically allow those at the music festival in Chelmsford, east of London, to shop via the Very.co.uk website.

A special selection of 50 “Festival Favourite” products selected for interest to festival goers will be available for collection within an hour at the Very.co.uk tent.

Other products from Very.co.uk’s 50,000 range of fashion, electrical goods and toys can be purchased the day before the festival officially kicks off (17th August), for collection on the next day.

As well as ordering items via mobile phones, Very.co.uk said festival goers will also be able to order items via its staff members, who will be scattered around the site at Hylands Park.

Gareth Jones, retail director at Very.co.uk, said: “Very.co.uk is well-known for easy, stress-free online and mobile shopping delivered where and when it’s convenient for our customers. As the official fashion partner for V Festival, we saw no reason not to extend that offering to festival goers.”

Some 90,000 people are expected to attend the music festival next month to see bands including The Stone Roses, the Killers and Snow Patrol.

CollectPlus

CollectPlus currently has 4,700 collection points for parcels across the UK, mainly within convenience stores, with the company stating that 85% of British consumers are within a mile of a CollectPlus shop.

The company opened its first dedicated ParcelPoint within a shopping mall earlier this month.

Matthew Jacques, client development director at CollectPlus, said as with the shopping centre project, the V Festival service was about providing choice and convenience for online shoppers tailored around their busy lives.

“CollectPlus is constantly looking to provide its customers with the most convenient ways possible to collect their online purchases. It’s very exciting to be partnering with Very.co.uk to offer festival goers our Click & Collect+ service, giving them the option of updating their wardrobe depending on the weather, be it new wellies or sunglasses,” he said.
