Dutch shippers against end to rail service

EVO, Dutch shippers council, don’t want Railion (Deutsche Bahn) to stop its Overnight express between the Netherlands and Northern Italy as planned from October 1st onwards. (9/10/2001)

Evo stated that the combined passenger and cargo trains between Amsterdam and Milan are of great importance for fresh cargo like vegetables, fruit and other perishables.

The Railion daily service was a pilot with a transit time of only 14 hours for the whole journey, about half of the trucking time needed.

According to the Evo too many different organizations had to deal with the service, while the schedules did not meet shippers demands.
