Securicor wins Alliance & Leicester contract

Securicor, the security and distribution group, has won a Pounds 200 million deal to manage Alliance & Leicester’s cash processing. Securicor said that it was the biggest outsourcing deal yet in the United Kingdom cash-processing sector. The A&L business had been managed by Consignia. Under the agreement, Securicor will assume ownership of A&L’s Basingstoke-based cash centre. The company said that the deal meant it would now process Pounds 90 billion of cash each year for financial institutions and retail customers. Consignia said that it had already told Alliance & Leicester that it did not want to renew the contract
