Pitney Bowes opens European HQ in Hatfield, England

Pitney Bowes – the world’s largest mailroom equipment supplier – has opened its new Global Solutions European headquarters in Hatfield, England. The company said it was the “end of an era” for its old head office in Harlow, where the company was based since 1963.

The new headquarters at the Hatfield Business Park, opened officially on Thursday, will allow the US company to continue growth.

About 450 staff will be located at the Hatfield HQ, but around 200 jobs will remain in Harlow, although these will move to a newly acquired site.

Pitney Bowes said that with investment in an “agile” workplace allowing employees to work remotely, the transition to the new headquarters should be smooth.

Ian Davidson, the European President of Global Mail Solutions, said that his company had evolved from primarily a mailing company to a customer communications solutions provider over its past 50 years.

“The transition has brought about the need for new premises, moving the headquarters from what was essentially an engineering based site to a location more in line with the solutions and services we now offer,” he explained.

“This change in location is designed to support agile working and facilitate the advancing needs of Pitney Bowes’ employees.”
