PostNord wins logistics deal with e-commerce firm Zalando
Scandinavian postal operator PostNord has picked up an e-commerce contract with the rapidly growing international footwear and clothing retailer Zalando. Berlin-based Zalando, which was launched in 2008, currently sells to 12 European countries, launching online stores in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway this summer.
The company claims to sell 30,000 pairs of shoes a day, generating EUR 100m a month in revenue across Europe.
Zalando customers are offered free delivery, including returns.
With PostNord as its logistics partner for the Nordic region, it said it is looking to attract customers with a broad range of more than 100,000 products.
“We have found a satisfactory logistics solution that meets our exacting requirements in relation to quality and flexibility,” said Zalando’s head of Nordic, Michael Lindskog.
PostNord – the parent company of Sweden’s Posten AB and Denmark’s Post Danmark – said its growing logistics presence offers 1,600 delivery points in Sweden, 800 in Denmark, 1,000 in Norway and 1,100 in Finland.
Consumers across the region can order products online and pick them up from their local grocery store, the firm said.
“With our Nordic logistics services and and over 4,500 delivery points across the Nordic region we will be contributing to an effective solution that will lead to satisfied customers for Zalando,” said Max Ahlstedt, the Nordic sales manager at PostNord.
