Industry moves – Latest appointments at PRC, Pitney Bowes, Totalpost

Robert Taub named PRC vice chairman

America’s Postal Regulatory Commission has announced Robert G Taub as its new vice chairman, taking over from Nanci Langley as of 1st January, 2013.

First appointed to the Commission by President Obama in October 2011, Taub has wide-ranging experience on Capitol Hill including 12 years in senior staff positions on the House of Representatives’ important Oversight & Government Reform Committee. During his time at the US postal regulator, he has played key roles in some key rulings, most recently expressing reservations about the extent of the Commission’s role in setting postal rates.

Commenting on his one-year appointment, Taub paid tribute to the “dedicated” staff of the Commission, and said: “While these are challenging times for our nation’s postal system, I remain committed to working with all stakeholders to address the current difficulties.”

Pfeiffer takes charge of Pitney Bowes presort unit


New Pitney Bowes Presort Services president Debbie Pfeiffer

Pitney Bowes has promoted Debbie Pfeiffer to become the new president of its Presort Services division, while its president of Mail Services Jay Oxton is to retire at the end of February 2013.

A member of the National Postal Policy Council, Pfeiffer has more than 29 years’ experience in the industry, most recently as the company’s vice president of US sales and client services for Presort Services.

Oxton has been with Pitney Bowes since 2002, when his company PSI Group Inc., was acquired by the US mailroom equipment giant. During his time at Pitney Bowes, he helped grow the Presort Services business from 11 to 36 facilities within the US, and helped form the company’s Global E-commerce business group.

“Jay Oxton has been an outstanding leader who has made significant contributions to our Mail Services business during his career at Pitney Bowes,” said Vicki O’Meara, the president of Pitney Bowes Services Solutions.

Totalpost appoints security expert to drive x-ray sales


Nick Downer has 16 years’ experience in the UK security industry

UK-based mailroom equipment supplier Totalpost Services plc has appointed an experienced x-ray security professional as the new national sales manager for its X-ray Threat Detection division.

The company, which has been providing x-ray screening systems for corporate mailrooms and airport cargo facilities for 12 years, has appointed Nick Downer to accelerate growth in the field, taking advantage of his 16 years’ experience in the UK security industry.

Downer said: “I was attracted to Totalpost because of their exceptionally good reputation within the industry. They have proven their status in a short time through providing absolute customer satisfaction achieved by guaranteeing the highest possible standard of support and customer service.”
