Business Post headhunts Queen

BUCKINGHAM Palace is in talks with mail firm Business Post over a request to put the Queen’s head on the first private stamps.

The Birmingham-based company is poised to challenge Royal Mail’s postal monopoly, collecting and sorting business post, and is looking to add value to its stamps.

Chief executive Paul Carvell said: ‘We thought it would be nice to give collectors a chance to have something valuable.

‘There is no problem about producing a stamp or franking an envelope, but for them to have any intrinsic value we need the Queen’s head on it. We are trying to get a Royal Warrant and are negotiating with the Royal Family for permission.’

By June, Business Post plans to pick up and sort bulk business post from private companies.
