Honda (UK) expands its long standing partnership with TDG
Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) has expanded its longstanding partnership with TDG, following the opening of a new £130 million plant facility at its Swindon operation. TDG has established a major rail-connected distribution facility at the Honda site, as part of a new five-year, multi-million-pound contract with Honda that reflects a 66 percent increase in production capacity at the site to 250,000 cars per annum.
David Hodgetts, divisional manager of logistics at Honda, says, “TDG’s willingness to invest in the new distribution facility means that it will hove a central role in helping us to deliver our long-term strategy for HUM. The second car plant will allow HUM to achieve our objective to become a global manufacturing centre for our new Civic threedoor hatchback and the new CRV range, serving both the North American and Japanese markets, In addition, we will continue to produce the live-door Civic and Accord models for both UK and continental markets.”
