Swiss Post boosts profit

The Swiss Post increased its conglomerate profit last year by approximately two thirds (+64%) to CHF 194 million. The operating profit rose by 32% to CHF 545 million. Net turnover compared to the previous year climbed by 3.4% to CHF 6.228 billion. The Swiss postal service provider attributed this year-on-year improvement of its annual result with higher demand for post products, rate amendments in the parcel and letter segments and the sale of real estate. Moreover, the service company increased the efficiency of the parcel segment and streamlined the network of post offices. It also expanded the range of financial products and reoriented its e-business subsidiary. But the mail company didn’t announced the results of the individual segments. The profit margin rose from 2.0% to 3.1%. Swiss Post announced that this was still below the normal industry mean of between 5 and 8%.
