Consignia's Post Office & Bank of Ireland unit jv cleared by EU

The European Commission said it cleared plans by Consignia PLC’s Post Office Ltd and Bank of Ireland’s First Rate Enterprises Ltd to form a joint venture, called FRTS.

FRTS will wholesale foreign currency and supply traveller’s cheques and car hire, it said.

The deal was cleared under the simplified procedure of the EU merger regulation.
