Kuehne & Nagel purchase Mauritius agent

Kuehne & Nagel said that as of May 1, it had completed the purchase of 51% of the shares in Nakufreight (Mauritius) Ltd. (5/15/2002)
Nakufreight had been Kuehne & Nagel’s agent in Mauritius since 1989.
Kuehne & Nagel said in a statement that the acquisition will help strengthen its position in Mauritius and among the Indian Ocean Islands.
“We are very pleased that it has been possible to enter into such an agreement”, says Karl-Heinz Balzer, Regional Director for sub-Saharan Africa. “It enables us to extend our business and our customers will benefit from a larger range of services and global resources. We have ambitious objectives, among them increasing our share in export traffic on the main trade lanes, both on sea and air.”
Nakufreight operates an office in Port Louis with a staff of 25.
