Clamour to close post offices

More than 3,000 post office managers want to close their businesses, exceeding Consignia’s prediction of the number of post offices to close under restructuring plans for the ailing network.
The National Federation of SubPostmasters said about 3,250 out of more than 8,500 urban sub postmasters were interested in closing their branches and taking a government-backed compensation offer. The number of potential closures is already above the total of 2,500-3,000 closures anticipated by Consignia.
