DHL Worldwide Express opened a $1 million facility officially yesterday in a bid to cater to its customers located in the northern part of Singapore. The North Service Centre (NSC), which will service customers in areas such as Yishun, Bishan and Sembawang, is part of an overall aggressive investment programme in Asia. Overall, the Asia programme – which will see investments made in Hongkong, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan – will cost $548 million. The programme aims to boost the company’s infrastructure network, vehicle fleet and workforce, as well as customer service in Singapore over the next few years, DHL said in a statement. Besides the $1 million spent on the NSC, DHL will invest US$34 million (S$60.9 million) over the next 10 years to develop its hub facility at the Singapore Airport Terminal Services Express Courier Centre 2 in Changi. The centre was opened last year.”
