FedEx files permit for renovations at Memphis hub
FedEx has filed a permit for a $2.4 million building renovation project at its Memphis Hub.
According to local sources, the permit was filed on Thursday (16 July) and covers renovations to a facility which was previously used for employee-screening. FedEx is reportedly looking to convert the space into offices.
Local media report that FedEx also file a permit in December for a $5 million project for construction and renovation of aircraft line maintenance shops at the Memphis site.
Meanwhile, FedEx is also reported to have started construction on a new 124,000 square foot distribution centre in Durham, central Butte County, California.
“The new facility will replace an existing, smaller facility in Oroville, allowing us to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the region,” a FedEx spokesperson said to journalists at the Chico Enterprise Record.
Staff from the Oroville site will be relocated to the new centre, and more may be hired.
FedEx already has a freight facility in Durham, on Keenan Court, and a shipping facility in Chico (the main town of Butte County).
