Revenues down 2.6% for bpost

Belgian postal operator bpost has reported that its revenues for the second quarter (Q2) of 2015 were down 2.6% to €597.6m. The company said that this was partly due to lower SGEI compensation and the management’s decision to curtail some International Mail activities, but also down to “a bad performance in Advertising Mail”.

On the plus side, however, bpost reported “very strong parcels growth”. Domestic Parcels volumes were up 12.6% on Q1, driven by strong e-commerce growth and continued positive trend in C2C. International Parcels were up €9.3m – and bpost attributed this to a mix of “organic growth from US, positive FX contribution and good milk powder volumes to China”.

On the downside, underlying Domestic Mail volumes declined by 6.1%.

The company also announced some management committee changes today (6 August).

Koen Beeckmans will succeed Pierre Winand as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Committee.

Kurt Pierloot, currently heading the Mail Services Operations (MSO) division, and member of the Management Committee, will become responsible for the domestic Parcels division.

Philippe Dubois, currently Operations Director MSO, will be in charge of the MSO division and also become member of the Management Committee.
