“Van-hailing” company Lalamove secures funding for expansion

On-demand logistics company Lalamove has reported that it is set to expand into 12 new Chinese cities over the next few months, after securing $10m in a recent funding round. The funding round was led by MindWorks Ventures, with other investors also taking part.

According to a report published today (9 September) on the Techcrunch news website, Lalamove’s expansion plans will take the total number of Chinese cities which it serves to 20.

Lalamove has developed an app which enables users to hail delivery vans.

According to Techcrunch, Lalamove claims it recently completed one million deliveries and now counts 30,000 drivers on its platform.

The company operates as “Easy Van” in its home town, Hong Kong.

Lalamove said that while it can handle large deliveries, its customers are mainly small businesses and it offers services like shared trucks to help them save costs, as well as motorbikes for time-sensitive items like legal documents.
