Shanghai-based on-demand wine delivery company eyes expansion
Shanghai-based on-demand wine delivery company BottlesXO has recently expanded its service to cover the neighbouring city of Suzhou, and it is looking to extend its reach further over the coming year. BottlesXO has developed an app which allows users in Shanghai – and now Suzhou as well – to order wine and have it delivered within one hour. BottleX claims to be the only Shanghai on-demand company which has explicitly targeted the middle- to high-end boutique wine market with rapid delivery.
According to a report filed on Tech In Asia today (18 September), the company currently employs 15 people working on the app and 25 delivery workers.
BottlesXO has set up a network of wine storage locations in Shanghai from which the drivers pick up the bottles and then courier them to the customer’s location.
“Singapore and Hong Kong are our next markets,” BottlesXO co-founder Thilo Fuchs was reported as saying. “We have a long pipeline for the next year – we have another 10 cities in mind. But for that, we’ll need some more funding.”
According to Tech In Asia, BottlesXO raised around $1.7m in series A funding, and is looking to do a B-series round to help fund its growth plans.
