Deutsche Post DHL Parcelcopter test flight postponed

Deutsche Post DHL Parcelcopter test flight postponed

Deutsche Post DHL has postponed a drone test flight that it had planned to run this week because of bad weather. According to reports, the company was planning to use its next generation Parcelcopter to deliver packages directly into a parcel locker in Bavaria.

A spokesperson at Deutsche Post DHL confirmed to Post&Parcel this morning that yesterday’s maiden flight had been postponed because the “weather prognoses for the flight route provided by our experts were sub-optimal”.

However, the spokesperson added: “We will continue our tests in the following weeks and communicate a new date for the Parcelcopter’s maiden flight as soon as requirements have been met and the necessary permits have been secured.”

Deutsche Post DHL has already run successful tests with its Parcelcopters. Last year, for example, it organized a pilot project to delivery “medications and other urgently needed goods” to the North Sea island of Juist.
