FedEx commences Hong Kong and Seoul service

FedEx Corp. has already begun service between Hong Kong and Seoul, following a decision by the U.S. Department of Transportation granting it interim authority to operate six connecting flights between the territory and other Asian markets.

FedEx also plans to begin two additional weekly flights between Hong Kong and its Asian hub at Subic Bay in the Philippines on Dec. 1. It already operates five flights a week to Subic. In addition, the carrier plans to add two weekly flights between Hong Kong and Manila on Dec. 4, a spokeswoman said.

United Parcel Service, Northwest Airlines and Polar Air Cargo also won interim authority from DOT to offer service between Hong Kong and other cities in Asia. The department is expected to make a final decision on the routes early next year.
