eBay partnering with MallforAfrica

eBay has reportedly entered into a new partnership with MallforAfrica that will enable inventory from US sellers to be bought by MallforAfrica.com shoppers in Nigeria and Kenya. MallforAfrica CEO Chris Folayan was quoted as saying: ““We are creating a unique ‘eBay Powered by MallforAfrica’ app to run on all our platforms. When buyers in Africa shop with this app, they’ll be able to shop on eBay, buy what they want, check out, and pay through MallforAfrica.”

The server will reportedly start in Nigeria in July, and then roll out to Kenya, followed by Ghana.

According to a report on TechCrunch, MallforAfrica will take care of the shipping and delivery of goods. It will also handle the payments for goods in local currencies – with money going back to US vendors in dollars.
