Jersey Post enables online sign-ups for SecureDrop service

Jersey Post has announced that its customers can now register 0nline for its SecureDrop service. The SecureDrop service enables people to have their parcels delivered, even if they are not at home when the postman calls.

The standard SecureDrop Home service allows items of mail that do not need a signature to be delivered to a secure, weatherproof location on the customer’s premises.

SecureDrop Neighbour allows items of mail, including those requiring a signature to be left with a neighbour if there is no answer at the customer’s door.

SecureDrop Signature (an extra feature that was added in September) enables all deliveries, including those that require a signature such as Special Delivery, to be delivered to a customer’s SecureDrop location. A unique barcode will be affixed to each customer’s SecureDrop delivery point for the postal worker to scan when an item is delivered. By scanning the barcode the postal worker registers proof of delivery at the property.

Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations commented: “In recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of items requiring a signature at the point of delivery. In the run up to Christmas, we’d like to encourage islanders to sign up for this service, so that we are able to deliver on the first delivery attempt and minimise the amount of missed delivery notes being left for customers.”

The online self-service portal already allows customers to sign up for the 24/7 Parcel Locker service and to arrange a redelivery.
