Fortec reports growing use of its “Simply European” service

Fortec has reported that the “Simply European” service which it introduced earlier this year has been “embraced” by its members. The Simply European service was launched to allow transport companies to send frequent low volumes to countries across Europe cost effectively.

According to Fortec: “In just the first few weeks more than half of Fortec’s 80-strong network of members from across the UK had signed up to the service. That number is still on the increase as more and more members, and their customers, recognise the benefits”.

Targeting 24 countries across Europe, the scheme offers daily and scheduled departures to capital cities and economic hubs, drawing on the networks of Fortec’s parent company Geodis.

Although the scheme is still in its early stages, Fortec is shipping up to 50 loads per week for customers through Simply European, with Germany, France and the Netherlands regularly among the most popular destinations.

Dave Spong, Fortec’s Network Director, said: “Over the past few months we have had some excellent feedback on Simply European from our members.

“This in turn has led to interest from other members who are realising the benefits the service brings.

“We already have excellent connections in Europe through our parent company GEODIS – the fourth largest transport and logistics operator on the continent – and an increasing number of our members are seeing their own business grow as Simply European allows them to broaden their service offering, acting as a true one-stop shop for their customers.”
